Amy Beth Rautner, L.Ac., Dipl. Ac.

Amy Rautner

Amy Beth Rautner, licensed acupuncturist, created the Chi of Life Acupuncture clinic upon receiving a masters-level degree in acupuncture from the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland, and her Diplomate (national certification) from the National Commission on Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She maintains her acupuncture license with the Maryland Department of Health and Virginia Board of Medicine, and is a member of the Maryland Acupuncture Society and the Acupuncture Society of Virginia.

Philosophy

Ms. Rautner's philosophy of acupuncture is that the patient should be thoroughly comfortable and relaxed during each treatment, to enable their body to receive maximum benefits from the realignment of energy that stimulates the body's own healing process. By inserting very small needles (approximately the width of a human hair) through the skin at key locations along the meridian (or energetic) pathways, the balance of Qi flowing through the meridians can be corrected, enabling the body to heal and correct unwanted conditions. Ms. Rautner strongly believes that the process of inserting these needles should be comfortable and pain free, and her technique is focused on ensuring the comfort of each patient. She creates an environment that induces optimal relaxation.

The treatment regimen for any disorder typically requires a series of sessions, to enable the Qi in the meridians to gradually realign and restore the natural health and balance of the body. Based on each patient’s diagnosis, she may combine the use of Chinese herbal formulas and/or diet modification with acupuncture therapy as part of a holistic healing process based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) understanding of healing and wellness.
